Why to Host Your Own Rotator Script

Stop Paying Stupid Monthly Fees for Rotating Links to Your Favorite Money Making Sites!

Here is why you need to install a Rotator Script on your own domain.

If you’ve ever had the need to send traffic to one URL, and have that traffic spread among several websites, you have had the need for a link rotator.

If you have been looking for a URL rotator, you have probably there are two solutions to URL rotation. Installing a rotator script on your own domain, or using a third party link rotation service.

I always suggest you go with the solution that you can host yourself. As you investigate link rotator services, you will find a number of drawbacks.

First, you will find that rotation services limit the number of links you can rotate for free. At some point of time you will find yourself rotating enough links that you will have to pay a monthly fee to rotate the number of links that you want to.

You never know when a URL rotation service that may disappear, leaving the hard earned traffic you have directed to the service going nowhere.

Here is a solid piece of advice if you are doing any marketing on the internet. You must control your own links, and have as much control over your traffic as you can.

That’s why I strongly encourage you to have your own domain, and your own web hosting account. Furthermore, I encourage you to provide your own services as much as you can. Leave the web hosting and autoresponders to the services that know them best, and then attempt to host and own the rest of your own tools.

The rotator script is one tool you can, and should, host yourself.

The benefits to owning your own url rotator service are:

1. No more monthly fees! You pay a low one time fee, and then install the simple rotator script on your own domain. You rotate as many links as you want, on as many domains as you want. Just be careful, not all rotator scripts allow you to install the URL rotator on unlimited domains. Some rotator scripts charge you a one time fee per domain.

I recommend the HomeBizRotator since you can install it on unlimited domains that you own.

2. As stated above, you MUST be in control of your own links, and your own traffic. Imagine if you singed up for one of the free, or fee per multiple rotator services. You spent hard earned money and worked your tail off to get traffic going to your link rotator link with the third party service.

Suddenly, the rotator service disappeared. The traffic that your worked hard to generate is now pointing to a dead link. The money you spent, and time you spent is now being wasted because you had no control over the rotator service.

This is something that can happen very easily. All it takes is a few spammers sending out emails with the rotator service link in the email. A spam complaint to the rotators web host and domain registrar and that service could be shut down.

Don’t take the chance of losing your traffic being sent to a URL rotator service. I strongly suggest you look at this quality rotator script, and install it on your own domain.

3. Traffic going to your website means something. When you use a third party link rotation service, you are sending your traffic to their domain. The rotator service is benefiting from your traffic one way or another. At the very least, they are improving their Alexa rating as a result of members sending traffic to their domain. Why not send the traffic you are generating to your own domain?

This URL Rotator installs on your site and gives you complete control of your links and the traffic you send to the rotator.

You can see the link rotator in action. Each time you load this page, you will see a different page come up in your browser. These are links that are loaded into the URL rotator.

Also have a look at the admin area, to see the various rotation options.
You will need username: demo and password: demo123.

Your search for a rotator script is over, this is the only rotation script I use!

Rotating Links and Split Testing

I recently had a customer ask how they could track which capture page in the rotator was performing best. I thought I would give an example of how you can use HomeBizRotator to rotate links and track hits to a page with the same link rotator script.

Here is my explanation to the customer.

The rotator does it’s work before hitting the landing page, so it doesn’t know what was clicked on at the destination. However, the rotator also does hit tracking, so this is what you can do.

For two different landing pages, add the landing pages to the rotator and make sure they are enabled. Then traffic sent to the rotator will be split between the 2 landing pages.

Add two more links to the rotator with names like landingpageclicks1 and landingpageclicks2. Add the final destination URL to both of them. Make sure they are NOT enabled in the rotation. Click on “Get Direct Links”. Add the landingpageclicks1 Direct URL to your first landing page as the link someone is clicking to, or as your thank you page in your autoresponder. Do the same for landingpageclicks2.

Now when a landing page is rotated to, if someone clicks on the link on your landing page, the click is counted and they are directed to where you want them to end up.

You will then have stats two see which landing page is getting more clicks.

To better understand how this would work I have created a real life example.

I have created 2 landing pages that I am rotating through the rotator
http://capture1.myonlineleadsystem.com/
http://capture2.myonlineleadsystem.com/

They are Enabled and are set to rotate at each visit to the rotator URL http://homebizrotator.com/ord/

Now, I have added two more links to the rotator, that point to my destination site I want to direct customers to after they have taken action (click a link in this case) on my capture page. I have called these links Capture1Stats and Capture2Stats. I have set these links to Enabled = “N”.

I now have two links in rotation, and two links not in rotation.

I now need to get the “Direct Links” for Capture1Stats & Capture2Stats.

You will see the Direct URL for Capture1Stats & Capture2Stats. These are the links you would use on your lead capture pages.

Now if you look at my capture pages, they have a link or button

http://capture1.myonlineleadsystem.com/ points to http://homebizrotator.com/ord/go.php?id=4

http://capture2.myonlineleadsystem.com/ points to http://homebizrotator.com/ord/go.php?id=5

When someone visits http://capture1.myonlineleadsystem.com and clicks on the link, they go to http://homebizrotator.com/ord/go.php?id=4 that then directs the visitor to my destination http://top5tools.myonlineleadsystem.com/

The http://homebizrotator.com/ord/go.php?id=4 link tracks the number of hits to Capture1.  So you can see the number of times the lead capture pages were loaded under Rotate Hits, and the number of times the capture page links were clicked under Direct Hits.

You can test this in action. Go to http://homebizrotator.com/ord/casestudy/ and you will see the main admin panel. All links except Get Direct Links have been disabled.

You can click on the “Your Rotator Link” link to rotate through the capture pages. You can then click on the “Click Here For Instant Access” link on one of these pages, and you will be directed to the destination download page.  Then in the rotator Admin area, refresh the page and you will see the Rotate Hits and Direct Hits change.

That is how you can use the HomeBizRotator to rotate your landing pages, and the hit tracking feature to split test, to determine which landing page gets the best results.

URL Rotator Advanced Usage

It’s taken a while, but I have finally gotten around to creating a video in the advanced features of the HomeBizRotator URL Rotator

The video goes through some of the more advanced features of the HomeBizRotator Link Rotator script.

It includes a walk through of setting a links Weight in the rotator, setting a links Max Hits in the rotator, setting a Cookie and using the Direct Links feature to track hits and protect your links.

Here is more detail on the advanced features.

The Weight feature allows you to give certain links more weight, or more traffic, as they are sequenced through the rotator.  There are cases where you may want to deliver more traffic though a link for testing purposes, or if running an advertising coop you may have customers who purchase multiple coop spots.

Instead of having to place the link in the rotator multiple times, you can simply sets it’s “weight”.

The Max Hits feature allows you to allow a link to be rotated a maximum amount of time.  For example, you may be rotating a number of related affiliate products to see which one converts best.  You may want to set those links to a max so they all have the same number of hits and you can do your comparison of hits to conversions.

After a link receives its Max Hits the link is removed from the rotation.

The Cookie feature allows you to set a cookie so that if the same person returns to the rotator, they can be directed back to the initial link they were presented with initially.

Suppose you had a potential customer rotated to a certain product link.  If they closed their browser but then came back later through the rotator, without a Cookie set, they could be presented with a different product, confusing the potential customer.

The Direct Link feature allows you to count hits coming to any of the links you have in the rotator, that are Enabled or Disabled, by using a specific link created by the Rotator / Hit Counter.

This is also a great way to “Protect Your Links”.  I have a detailed blog post on how to use the URL Rotator to protect your links here.

If you haven’t already watched it, the URL Rotator basic usage video can be found here.

Link Rotator Script Usage Video

People have been asking for a HomeBizRotator link rotator script usage video for a while, and now it’s here.

I believe the rotator script written instructions are clear and easy to follow, but today people are so accustomed to learning by video, that software instructional videos are almost a requirement.

Here is the first of the HomeBizRotator usage instructions.

As you can see, this video covers the basics of the rotator script.

Login to the Admin area
Layout of the admin area
Finding your rotator traffic link
Seeing which link will rotate next
Changing the admin profile
The script help screen
Adding new links for rotation
Deleting links
Editing links
Batch upload of links

The above video should give you enough help to get you started using the link rotator quickly.

There will be another video coming soon that will show how to use the more advanced features of the rotator. Such as setting cookies, setting a wieght to a rotation link and setting a link to receive a maximum number of hits.

You can see the link rotator script demo here, which will allow you to play with some of the settings and see the rotator in action.

Link Rotator Purpose

I a not much of a video guy, but I decided it was time to start creating some videos about link rotation and my link rotator script.

My first video is a short video that explains the benefits of a link rotator.  I would appreciate it you would view and “Like” my video below.

To recap the video above, here are some of the uses for a link rotator.

Page split testing, Advertising Coops, Protecting your links from services that may shut down, tracking advertising and capitalizing on page not found errors just to name a few.

Once you find a need for link rotation, it’s really important that you host the rotator on your own domain, rather than purchasing a third party service.  Unfortunately, many of those services are used by spammers and all it takes is a few complaints for that service to be taken down by a web host, or a domain registrar.

Here are several other advantages to rotating links, particularly from your own site using the HomeBizRotator.

One Traffic Link Can Spread Your Traffic To Your Other Sites
Rotate Traffic To Multiple Links From Your Web Site
Stop Giving Away Traffic To Rotator Services
Use On Multiple Domains
Great For Split Testing
Hit Tracking with Detailed Stats

PHP Rotator Script New Feature

I love software creators that listen to their customers.

That’s one reason I created this website about the url rotator.  The owner of the software listens to his customers and makes enhancements based on their needs.

The latest change is just one case of an improvement to the rotator script because of a customer need.

This particular customer bought the HomeBizRotator php rotator to replace their random rotator with a serial rotator.  They also wanted the hit tracking capabilities of this web rotator.

They were faced with the job of transferring hundreds of links from one rotator to the new rotator.  To have to add each new link one by one would have been very time consuming.  The customer wanted a way to load a batch of links to the rotator without having to do the load directly to the php rotator database.

The result of this request was an a new feature being added to the HomeBizRotator.

Now you can copy and paste a large number of links into the batch upload page of the rotation script.  It takes just a few seconds to load, name and enable hundreds of links with a simple copy, paste and submit.

Did you know that once you purchase the HomBizRotator, you can use it on as may domains of your own as you wish.  You will also get any future additions and enhancements for free.  A small one time investment is all you will ever make.

HomeBizRotator Link Rotator Script Updated

My favorite URL rotator script has been updated, making it an even more valuable tool for the same low price.

Here are the changes, and some comments I have on the changes.

1.  URL Rotator Enable or Disable
2.  Maximum Number of Link Rotations
3.  Default URL Delivered When No Links Available for Rotation
4.  Page Rotation Weight
5.  Updated URL Rotator Admin Page
6.  Updated and Improved Link Rotator Reset Stats Page

1.  There are times I wanted to temporarily remove a link from rotation, to update the site.  With older versions, if you wanted to disable a link from rotation, you had to delete it from the rotator.  Then, if you wanted to rotate that link later, you had to add it back into the rotator.  When you deleted the link, the stats for that link were also deleted, so you had no history of rotations on that link.

With the new Enable/Disable function, you can now remove a link from the rotation without deleting it.  Simply disable the link, and then enable the link to add it back into the rotation.  The hits stats are preserved and will hit counts will continue where they left off.

This is a huge plus.
